Student : I'm very happy today.Me : Quickly settle down. We need to go through our work. (This being the examination season)Student : I'm so happy today.
Me : (realises that unless student shares his dying concern, there will be no learning to speak of later) Why are you so happy today?
Student : (gives you that sneaky tease) Can you guess why I am so happy?
Me : ... You tell me. I cannot read minds.
Student : I scored full marks for spelling and dictation! (shows me his school exercise book - this is the task his dad had relinquished onto me during my tuition session recently.)
I flipped through previous tests he had and discovered that this is the first time he had scored full marks for the individual sections.
Me : I am very proud of you!
(Student beams and probably thinks he can lepak one corner today).
Let's get started with work!
